Dharamshala is a city in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. Surrounded by cedar forests on the edge of the Himalayas, this hillside city is home to the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan government-in-exile. The Thekchen Chöling Temple Complex is a spiritual center for Tibetan Buddhism, while the Library of Tibetan Works and Archives houses thousands of precious manuscripts.
Day 1 – Arrival at Dharamshala – Local Sightseeing Tour
Welcome to Dharamshala. The High snow clad Dhauladhar ranges form a magnificent backdrop to the hill resort of Dharamshala. This is the principal township of Kangra district and overlooks widespread of the plains. With dense pine and deodar forests, numerous streams, cool healthy air, attractive surroundings and the nearby snowline, Dharamshala has everything for a perfect holiday. It is full of life and yet peaceful.
On arrival, check-in at the hotel. Later embark on a sightseeing visit to the famous Tibetan Medical Centre, where treatment is done using rare Tibetan medicines.
St. John Church, which is one of the oldest churches of this region. It is widely acknowledged for its Belgian stained-glass windows, which were donated by Lady Elgin. Other than these attractions, some other places to visit include Kangra Art Museum, Tea Gardens and Kunal Pathri Temple. Overnight stay at Hotel.
Day 2 – Day Excursion to Palampur
After breakfast today, get ready for some local sightseeing. Today, we are going to Palampur. A green hill station in Kangra Valley, Palampur is spectacularly surrounded by tea gardens and pine forests before merging with the Dhauladhar mountain ranges. Palampur is the tea capital of northwest India but tea is just one of the special things about this place since it is endowed with mild climate. After Palampur, head back to Chamunda Devi Temple (1000m) for a darshan. Return to hotel in Dharamshala. Overnight stay at hotel in Dharamshala. Distance From Dharamshala To Palampur: 47 Kms/2 Hrs.
Day 3 – Day Excursion to Palampur Tea Gardens & Transfers to Mcleodganj
After breakfast at your hotel, prepare for a full day excursion tour of Palampur Tea Garden. Later, get transferred to McLeodganj. Dinner & overnight stay at your hotel in McLeodganj.
Day 4 – Transfer from McLeod Ganj to Dalhousie
After breakfast today at your hotel in McLeodganj, hit the road to Dalhousie. Visit Dharamsala and the areas around, en route. Continue your drive to Dalhousie. Upon arrival and check in at hotel, get ready for an local city tour of Dalhousie in the afternoon. Overnight stay at hotel in Dalhousie.
Day 5 – Local Full Day Sightseeing (Panchpula, Kalatop Wild Life Sanctuary)
After a delicious breakfast today, set out on a local sightseeing tour of Dalhousie. Visit the four beautiful churches in Dalhousie – St. Andrew’s Church, St. Patrick’s Church, St. Francis Church, and St. John’s Church at Gandhi Chowk. Just a kilometer from Gandhi Chowk, visit Subhash Baoli – the enchanting spot surrounded by majestic trees where freedome fighter Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose supposedly spent time in 1937 contemplating and meditating. Head to Panchpula – a picturesque picnic spot where a stream feeds a series of pools. Finally, visit Kalatop Wildlife Sanctuary – home to the ‘ghoral’ and Himalayan black bear. Overnight stay at your hotel in Dalhousie.
Day 6 – Transfer to Amritsar
After breakfast and check out from hotel in Dalhouse, we drive to Amritsar by road. Home to majority of India’s sikhs, Amritsar is a prosperous city in the northwestern Indian state of Punjab and the unlikely sites of India’s most dazzling temple. The gilded Golden Temple is considered the holiest gurdwara, or religious complex, of the Sikh religion. Overnight stay at hotel in Amritsar.
Day 7 – Local Sightseeing – Departure from Amritsar
After breakfast, check out from your hotel in Amritsar and visit the most important, gilded Sikh shrine Golden Temple – considered the holiest gurudwara and a symbol of the spiritual and historical traditions of the Sikhs. Later, get transferred to the airport/railway station to board your flight/train back home. Your tour has come to an end. Let the memories begin!
